Put every student at the lab bench.

Tinker Lab is 30 interactive simulations in physics, chemistry and biology. Students set a goal, make a prediction, run the experiment with real data and explain what they saw, on any device the school already has.

30 labs · Grades 7–12 and university · Works in any browser

A live preview drawn from three of the labs. The numbers are calculated as it runs.

Thirty labs across three sciences

Each lab is a full practical, not a single animation: an experiment to run, missions to complete and data to analyse. Labs marked Trial are open to everyone with a free account.

Every lab runs like a real practical

The lab sheet beside each experiment walks students through the same four steps. Here is one round of Projectile Motion.

  1. Goal

Find the launch angle that sends a ball the farthest. The goal comes with the idea behind it, at the student's level.

  2. Predict

Students commit to an answer before touching the controls. Is it 30°, 45° or 60°? The prediction is kept, so the result means something.

  3. Experiment

Fire at five angles. Every trajectory stays on screen for comparison, and every shot adds a row to the results table.

  4. Explain

45° goes farthest, and 30° and 60° land in the same spot. Students say why, then check their reasoning against the model.

Missions, data and graphs in every lab

Missions
Short challenges with hints, so students who finish early go deeper and students who are stuck get a nudge.
Real data
Readouts come from the model running in the lab, so measurements behave like measurements.
Graphs
Results plot as they are collected. Older students fit lines and read gradients.
CSV export
Any results table downloads as a spreadsheet for write-ups and coursework.

One lab, three depths

Choose a level and the same lab asks for more. Students meet familiar equipment as they move up, and teachers can set one lab for a mixed class.

Aim, fire and compare

  • Change the launch angle, speed, height and even the planet.
  • Keep each trajectory on screen to compare shots side by side.
  • Hit targets to discover which angle reaches farthest.

Longest range at 45° when there is no air resistance

Made for real classrooms

Tinker Lab is set up for the way schools work: shared devices, patchy Wi-Fi, mixed classes and careful data rules.

Example class view with sample students
  • A class view for teachers

Your school gets a student code and a teacher code. Teachers see each student's level, challenges done and last activity, and can export the roster.

  • Nothing to install

It runs in the browser on Chromebooks, Windows and Mac laptops, iPads, Android tablets and phones. There is nothing for IT to deploy.

  • Installable and offline-ready

Add Tinker Lab to the home screen like an app. Once it has loaded, labs keep working when the school Wi-Fi drops.

  • Minimal student data

We ask students for a name, an email and a level, and keep their progress. No ads, and student data is never sold or used for marketing.

Plans for a class, a school or a district

Every school is a different size, so we quote rather than list prices. Tell us how many students you have and we'll send a quote sized to fit.

Request a school quote

Tell us about your school and a real person will reply. There's no obligation and no automatic sign-up.

  1. We reply within one working day with a quote sized to your students.
  2. You approve it and we invoice you once a year. Purchase orders are fine.
  3. We send your student and teacher codes. Classes can start the same day.
